Right now, information on Papua New Guinea's small and medium enterprises is scattered across different offices, registries, and paper files. That makes it hard for banks to lend, for government to plan, and for your business to be found.
This project changes that. The Small and Medium Enterprise Corporation (SMEC), working with the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) and support from the Australian Government (DFAT) under the Climate FIRST programme, is building a single, secure, nationwide registry of PNG's SMEs — collected and maintained through the programme's own data platform, eDOS (Eywa Data OS).
Once you're in the database, you're visible: to financial institutions looking to lend, to buyers looking for local suppliers, and to government programs designed to help you grow.
This isn't a paperwork exercise. Here's what a single, trusted national SME database is designed to deliver for business owners and for the country.
One official, up-to-date register — replacing fragmented, outdated lists across agencies and provinces.
Verified profiles give lenders and investors the confidence and visibility to say yes to your business.
Real, nationwide data lets SMEC and its partners design support programs based on evidence, not guesswork.
Data collection spans all four regions and 22 provinces — formal and informal, urban and rural businesses alike.
Every registration is protected under strict privacy and data-protection standards on the eDOS platform, reviewed and verified by SMEC officers.
An official national listing signals trust to customers, suppliers, and partners looking to work with you.
These rewards are for businesses that register on the national SME database and complete their registration.
Five registered SMEs will receive a professionally built website — a real online storefront for your business, at no cost.
Five SMEs will get a full digital marketing setup — social pages, listings, and a starter content plan to reach more customers.
Every registered SME is invited to hands-on training workshops covering digital tools, record-keeping, and growing your market.
How winners are chosen: We pick the website and marketing winners at random from verified registrations. Every verified business has the same chance. Training is open to every business on the register — no draw needed. SMEC announces the winners directly. Winning is always free — nobody will ever ask you to pay to receive a prize.
Tell us about your business. It takes about five minutes, online or with a field officer.
A SMEC officer reads your form and may call you to confirm your details.
Your business joins the national register, where banks and buyers can find it.
You can join free training, get help with finance, and win rewards for registered businesses.
Registering is free and takes about five minutes. Every completed registration goes into the draw for the rewards above.
