Background
GGGI is a treaty-based international organisation headquartered in Seoul, South Korea, dedicated to supporting developing countries in building economies that grow while protecting the environment — "green growth".
In Papua New Guinea, GGGI works with the national government on climate finance, green entrepreneurship, and sustainable development, including the Climate FIRST project and the PNG Greenpreneurs Initiative launched in 2025, which supports green entrepreneurs across seven provinces.
Contribution to this project
- GGGI implements the Climate FIRST project under which the nationwide SME database is being built.
- GGGI provides the technical assistance, program management, and international expertise behind the data collection effort.
- GGGI works alongside SMEC to design the survey methodology and to make sure the register supports access to finance for PNG businesses — including green and climate-resilient enterprises.
