Background
Climate FIRST — Climate Finance for Resilience, Innovation and Sustainable Transition — is a project funded by the Australian Government and implemented by GGGI together with the Government of Papua New Guinea.
It works with PNG partners including the Climate Change and Development Authority (CCDA), SMEC, the Credit Guarantee Corporation, and the Centre for Excellence in Financial Inclusion. Its initiatives include the PNG Greenpreneurs program, a three-year effort supporting more than 250 green entrepreneurs across seven provinces with incubation, seed funding, and capacity building.
Contribution to this project
- The nationwide SME database — and this Digital Hub — are delivered under the Climate FIRST programme.
- Climate FIRST connects the register to a bigger goal: helping PNG businesses access climate finance and grow sustainably.
- Data from the register supports evidence-based decisions about where finance, training, and green business support should go.
